ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

What does sanctuary mean to you? Sanctuary can be a place, a person, or perhaps even an activity that takes us out of our everyday lives and transports us to a sacred place. Many of us find sanctuary in the very act of creating art. For this particular online exhibit, we are showcasing work that explores the notion of sanctuary, and perhaps even challenges the concept of what sanctuary can mean.

NOTE FROM THE CURATOR

Curating the 'Finding Sanctuary Exhibition' has been a great honor. Spending hours going through each submission gave me a deeper appreciation for the incredible amount of visionaries and talented artists in our community. I tried my best to include a broad selection of styles, materials, and media when it came to the finalists. I chose works that spoke to me personally and represent what I associate with the idea of safety and 'sanctuary.'
